Full Moon : January 4th : 8:53pm PST
On the Winter Solstice we experienced the darkest moon of the year. Seeds visions for the coming cycle were sewn, and the moon picked up the power of the solar seed to be distributed as hope and fresh growth for the New Year. Tonight the full brilliance of that vision and those seeds come to fruition in light of the full moon, dancing in the sign of Cancer where feeling, intuition, home and family guide our way. Standing opposite the sun in Capricorn, and making a Grand Cross with the nodes of the moon, we steep in the tension of reconciling opposites, and can choose to evolve with an opportunity - the first of the year - to move beyond limitation. It is a dance of destiny and karma.
In the sign of Cancer the moon is wholly at HOME. Delighting and sharing in the Crabs affinity for sensation, for comfort, for safety, and sensitivity, the moon in Cancer is extra resonant and those with a strong moon/Cancer imprint may feel even more intuitive and emotional during this Grand Cross. What's important to remember is that the Crab travels with its home on its back, zig zagging across the sands of life, belly to the earth. Especially now in the fire of relationship, with the light of the Capricorn sun shining fully on the soft bodied one who would rather be hidden, we are asked to resource a concept of home and emotional security that can travel with each of us - regardless of external circumstance.
We learn to reconcile seemingly opposing forces - the get-er-done task master that is skillful Capricorn, and the feel-rather-than-do that is the crab do share a deeper lesson centered in the heart of each one of us. Our foundation - both concerns of Capricorn and Cancer, begins within. For Capricorn we realize that to build externally we need to touch into and take responsibility for our own author-ship - how we create our circumstances and can take responsibility for our choices. Capricorn asks us to touch into our inner author-ity. And for Cancer, the deep feeling one that can be lost without good boundaries and a soft blanket - comfort too begins within. Home is where the heart is. Can we carry our sense of security on our backs while still remaining open enough to feel? Can we let our intuitive sense contribute to and inform our personal authority? And can both skills be honed to help us walk our path this time around - to fulfill (full moon) our soul contract (nodes of the moon)?
To put it simply this Full Moon, ask yourself how your emotional intelligence can be an asset, rather than a burden, to be channeled into all you're looking to build this year.
The moon/sun opposition makes a Grand Cross squaring the South (karma) and North (destiny or soul work) nodes of the moon. Square aspects are times of tension and conflict that, when faced head-on, create the perfect circumstances for evolutionary leaps. Just like the Grand Cross in 2014, we have another opportunity to review or be confronted by four major life themes : home and family (Cancer), personal development (Aires), relationship (Libra), and societal contribution (Capricorn).
As with all full moons, we complete one half of the cycle where the seed has been gestating, growing, and maturing, and we come to the second half - the offering or distillation of the fruit. We have been tasked with the difficult, yet consistent task of releasing or letting go. As the sun sets over the horizon this evening, take a moment to reflect upon the Grand Cross themes of your life as they relate and interconnect - one to another. Perhaps you'll identify areas that have been stagnant too long, living in isolation or grasped too tightly. Cancer the crab is asking you to feel your way, and then creatively, compassionately and with great integrity, mold and shape your world (Capricorn). Only you have the author-ity to carve your soul path, and complete what karmic cycles are to be completed. Remember...
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Marianne Williamson
